Sony Press Conference
Finally got the chance to watch Sony’s E3 presentation, my end reaction was actually pretty favorable. PS3 will have a very solid lineup coming out this year, with their new motion controller, PS3 Move, along with the 3D games that will be available and new online downloads from the PS3 network, Sony did a fine job in showing off what they had in store for us PS3 owners. The presentation can be sum up in one word, “MONTAGE”, yes, this conference sure had a butt load of them. You had your 3D games montage, your Move montage, your “developer talking about Move” Montage, and your PSP montage, and ending with the “Look at all these games” montage, Sony sure them montages, but hey, if you got the games, you might as well show them off in a 3-4 minute video segment all together with some rather weird selection of music. Anyway lets get started at what Sony presented at this year E3.
So take a guess at what starts the conference, yep, you guess it, a video montage. Jack Tretton and President and CEO and Kazuo Hirai started off the show by talking about the PS3, your usually everything is going to great, we have momentum, yada, yada, yada…. The first games we actually do see are Killzone 3 and Grand Turismo 5 both of which seem like they’ll be solid, also these games will have 3D feature when Sony ships their new Bravia TV sets. My last GT game was GT3, so i’m on the fence on whether to get this, Killzone on the hand, i probably wouldn’t get, unless it comes out on the PC(lol). Cue the 3D games montage.
We get the first demonstration of the new Move controller,, whats the difference between this puppy and the wii mote, ummm.. according to Sony, its got 1 : 1 motion control, in other words, you wont be able to hit a home run with just a flick of a wrist. We’ll see how long before a kid knocks another kid’s teeth out by wildly throwing their hands around. Sorcery demo was a really impressive, all the different combos and effect you can do, finally all those people wishing to be Gandalf, or Harry Potter(ya, i know) will come true. The next demo was EA Sports Tiger Woods, I guess this looks good or fun(i don;t like golf, if you haven;t guess yet). The Move does seem to be a pretty decent product, if more developers come up with ways to use this thing, and utilize the more powerful PS3, we can see some pretty nice games. Hey, guess what, montage!!
I’m not going to say much about Kevin Butler’s appearance, but i’ll just say he is awesome, please make a movie about him, please, please, please.
PSP was the next on the list of products to be presented. PSP games will have a nice line up of games for the people who own one of these, for everyone else, like me, it could have lasted a little shorter. PSP montage, you know the drill by now.
The next few games featured is Little Big Planet 2, Metal of Honors, and Deadspace 2. All three games will satisfy their intended audience, I probably would not get any for my PS3, I’ll probably get the last two for the PC, sorry people, but PC gaming still better than any console. The Portal 2 surprise was again not something I would get for the PS3, but let me take a few minutes to scream out my absolute excitement for Portal 2 on Steam, so here we go, W00t ya!!, this baby is going to rock!!.. Valve is god.
Anyway, final montage of future PS3 games like Final Fantasy 14, Mafia 2, and Infamous 2, along with a bunch of other games, again, strong lineup for the upcoming year and the holiday season. Now we get to the last game presentation, and if you bought a PSX, you probably play this game, or saw one of your friends play this game. Twisted Metal will be back and everyone in the audience was excited. The online gameplay is going to be a total blast, with fighting in the Air and ground. The graphics seem terrific, everything was fast and smooth.
So in all PS3 had a decent presentation, alot of new features coming soon to the PS3 network, alot of games that will get people excited and spend that money when the time comes.
